Club Softball's Eventful Weekend at WVU

 

This past weekend Club Softball at SRU took on WVU. When we played them last year, we lost the series 2-1. This year we both had completely new teams and different mindsets. The started with an hour and 50-minute drive down to WVU. We also learned along the way that we would only be playing with 10 girls this series. We were coming off a series win against Ohio University. We were currently tied with WVU for 2nd place in our division. 

The first game started, and we came out strong. Our fielding was going great, and our batting was on fire. We pulled out the win 11-1. The second game started, and we started off very slow. They got a couple runs on us during the 2nd inning. Once we started getting our playing together it was too late. We lost the second game 8-2. Last game it was make or break for us to win this series. The scored first making it 1-0 after the 3rd inning. The bottom of the 5th inning started, and we come out on fire scoring 5 runs back-to-back. We continued to dominate throughout the rest of the game. We won the last game 8-1. We won the series overall. Which puts us in a really good position going into the spring semester.

We are currently 2nd in the division with a record of 4-2. The Ohio State University is 1st with a record of 5-1. For the spring semester we still have to play Pitt, Kent State, and OSU. We are in a very good position to make it to Regionals this year. After the game we decided to celebrate with going to get food at Chipotle.
